This position is part of the rapidly growing EO/IR Mission Systems
team within BR&T. We're designing, building, and testing
cutting edge sensor systems, including OPIR, Missile Defense,
Hypersonic Defense, IR Seekers, and IR sensor suites for airborne
systems. Our focus is always on the mission - connecting people
through safer air travel and protection of the warfighter from its
adversaries. This isn't your typical Boeing team - we execute
through the entire design lifecycle: from modeling and simulation
of new concepts, through lab and prototype demonstrations, and
eventually transitioning to production systems. If you're
interested in working in a fast pace environment while taking a
design from clean sheet of paper through flight demonstration,
ideally with some technology that's never been flow before, then

We are seeking a Principal Electro Optical/Infrared Systems
Engineer in Huntington Beach, CA with experience in working on
EO/IR Sensor systems to lead systems engineering for prototype
sensing systems. This position will be involved in the future
architecture development of our sensor systems, as well as creating
and deriving design requirements for our systems. They will design
systems engineering models, analyze radiometric models, develop
image processing algorithms, as well as requirements creation and
verification through test. The candidate will work closely with the
modeling & simulation team, as well as the electrical, mechanical,
optical, and software engineers.
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate
will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed
location options. This is at the hiring team's discretion and could
potentially change in the future.
This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance
(U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has
been active in the past 24 months is considered active).
Position Responsibilities:
Leads in the development of EO/IR sensor systems from conceptual
design through prototype testing. This includes identifying mission
needs that would be benefit from EO/IR sensors or sensor systems,
defining system performance requirements, integrating technical
parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and
program interfaces, and generating test plans to demonstrate
mission success.
Leads analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system
architecture.
Leads in the development and verification of modeling and
simulation, including radiometric models and multi-system
performance models
Leads in the development of sensor system requirements creation and
verification, including creation of test plans, and supports the
hardware team through integration and test
Plans and leads research projects to develop concepts for future
product designs to meet projected requirements.
Supports new business activities and identifies prospective markets
and opportunities to grow the business, and develops technology
roadmaps.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):
Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an
accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science,
mathematics, physics or chemistry
5+ years of experience in systems engineering for EO/IR sensors or
sensor systems
Experience working on research and development projects
Experience implementing models based systems engineering
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience working on space based and/or airborne mission
payloads
Experience leading research and development programs
Experience working on proposals to capture government development
contracts
Experience as a chief engineer or systems engineering IPT lead with
weapons design, software avionics/avionics/electrical design, and
weapons system architecture
Active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance
Typical Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree and typically 20 or
more years' experience in an engineering classification or a
Master's degree with typically 18 or more years' experience in an
engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 15 or
more years' experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor,
Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of
study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or
chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required,
accreditation standard.
Relocation : This position offers relocation based on candidate
eligibility.

guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and
qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range: $186,000 - $251,000
