Maritime Undersea (MU) is a growing business focused on delivering complex solutions from seabed to space!As a **MU Lead Electrical Engineer and Systems Architect** , you will be part of a bi-coastal team delivering the best solutions for today's complex undersea engineering challenges. Our products range from highly capable Autonomous Extra-Large Unmanned Undersea Vehicles (XLUUVs) to unique Integrated Mission's underwater solutions for a variety of customers. You will be responsible for designing, integrating, and testing engineering solutions for electrical and electronic components and systems across the full product lifecycle, including both enhancing existing field units with the addition of new capabilities as well as architecting completely new systems.In this hands-on role, you'll be working directly on state-of-the-art maritime undersea projects, where you will have opportunities to lead a growing team of Electrical Engineers collaborating with Chief Engineers, technical experts, and our customers on the more than 20 programs across 3 major portfolios, as well as provide technical support to suppliers. The day-to-day activities of this position will include architecting new engineering solutions, as well as performing and leading integration, test and troubleshooting of maritime undersea electrical, electronic and electromechanical systems, during which you'll have the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional peers, lead and mentor others, and drive the team to solve technical challenges to support our diverse portfolios.Our Bi-Coastal team is located in Huntington Beach, CA and Herndon, VA - with active growth at both sites!The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking a **MU Lead Electrical Engineer and Systems Architect** located in **Huntington Beach, CA.** The selected candidate will be responsible for:**Position Responsibilities Include:**+ Analyze customer and system requirements to develop architectural approaches and detailed specifications for various maritime undersea electronic products including requirements, interface and electronic system architecture definitions.+ Develop designs consistent with requirements and specifications including appropriate component selections, circuit designs, and supporting modeling and analysis.+ Support Supplier Management with make/buy recommendations and other technical services.+ Lead electronics hardware design verification through various methods of review, testing, simulation and analysis. Identify, track and status technical performance measures to measure progress and ensure compliance with requirements.+ Support fabrication, maintenance and troubleshooting of maritime undersea electrical, electronic and electromechanical systems for MU projects, such as XLUUVs, payloads, and other integrated missions solutions, including hands-on leadership to troubleshoot hardware and test setups using schematics, multi-meters, oscilloscopes, etc.+ Resolve complex issues on critical programs related to architectural approaches, requirements, specifications and design.+ Investigate emerging technologies to develop new concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements, recommending and managing technology insertion while working under consultative direction.+ Lead technical aspects of proposal preparation. Identify critical performance measures and develop processes for computing them.**This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.****This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.****Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):**+ Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry+ Analyze customer and system requirements to develop architectural approaches and detailed specifications for various maritime undersea electronic products including requirements, interface and electronic system architecture definitions.+ Develop designs consistent with requirements and specifications including appropriate component selections, circuit designs, and supporting modeling and analysis.+ Support Supplier Management with make/buy recommendations and other technical services.+ Lead electronics hardware design verification through various methods of review, testing, simulation and analysis. Identify critical performance measures and develop processes for computing them.**Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):**+ Active U.S. Security Clearance+ Experience in developing electronic architectures for electric / autonomous vehicles.+ Experience with battery system design and logistics, including knowledge of battery electrochemical characteristics and system conops / constraints to appropriately size and select batteries and implement system battery designs, performing selection of battery topologies, weighing energy densities, environmental effects, safety considerations, life, cost, maintenance complexities, etc.+ Knowledge of high-performance motor control algorithms and software.+ Familiarity with multilayer mixed-signal circuits, sensors, analog/digital conversion, firmware/FPGA programming including VHDL, use of test equipment, test design.+ Experience developing innovative analog, power, and/or digital circuit design principles (e.g., frequency, voltage, thermal, bandwidth, mismatch) to design, simulate and layout circuit boards.+ Experience in optical systems design including infrared/electro-optical (IR/EO), visible, ultraviolet (UV), photonics, fiber, high energy laser, optics systems design methods (e.g., optical, opto-mechanical, supportability, life-cycle) for communications, measurements, surveillance, tactical, strategic, and weapons applications (e.g., component, unit, subsystem, system, algorithm, software design, low observables).+ Experience troubleshooting shipboard navigation, communication and power systems.+ Experience working with UUVs.+ Computing experience (electronic interfaces, military communication protocols, equipment environmental requirements).+ Team experience (Agile work environment, formal technical presentations, formal customer presentations).+ Experience with Engineering Release process (including conceptual design, drawing review and approval).+ Experience with production and fabrication support, including:+ Material Review Board (MRB)+ Non-Conformance (NCR) disposition+ Supplier Information Requests (SIR)**Typical Education/Experience:**Bachelor's degree typically 14 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 12 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 9 or more years' experience in an engineering classification.**Relocation:**This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.**Drug Free Workplace:**Boeing is a Drug Free Workplace where post offer applicants and employees are subject to testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol when criteria is met as outlined in our policies _._**Shift:****This position is for 1st shift.****Equal Opportunity Employer:**Boeing is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
