exists to support ongoing aerospace production programs that
require precision manual machining for repair, modification, and
specialty components. At Crane Aerospace & Electronics, this
position plays an important role in producing and modifying
mechanical components used in aircraft landing and braking systems.
Conventional machining remains critical for specialty work, rework,
prototyping, and precision support operations. The Work You’ll Be
Doing In this role, you will: Set up and operate conventional
(manual) lathes and milling machines Machine parts to blueprint
specifications Fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical components
and tooling Align and secure fixtures, cutting tools, and materials
Monitor feeds and speeds during machining operations Study
blueprints and determine machining sequences Select proper tooling
and materials for each job Perform first-piece and in-process
inspections Measure finished parts using precision instruments
Detect machine irregularities by sound, vibration, or finish
quality Communicate with engineering and production teams to ensure
accuracy and quality Machines, Controls & Equipment You’ll work
with equipment such as: Machines: Conventional (manual) lathes
Manual milling machines Drill presses Surface grinders Shapers and
specialty shop equipment Inspection Tools: Micrometers Calipers
Height Gages Precision measurement fixtures Materials You’ll Work
With Aluminum Mild and Alloy Steel Stainless Steel Aerospace-grade
metals What We’re Looking For Required : 1 year of conventional
machining training or hands-on experience Ability to set up and
operate manual lathes and mills Ability to read blueprints and
understand GD&T Knowledge of cutting tool geometry and
machining fundamentals Experience using precision inspection tools
Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy Reliable,
safety-focused, and team-oriented U.S. Person (ITAR requirement)
Preferred (Not Required): Aerospace manufacturing experience
Machine shop coursework (trade school or junior college)
Understanding of shop math, geometry, and basic trigonometry Why
