America Founded in 2010, Coach Across America is a national
nonprofit organization focused on the power of coaches to transform
the lives of our nations most vulnerable youth, and the communities
they live in, through sports. Coach Across America is based on the
simple premise that highly trained coaches can be among the most
transformative adults in young peoples lives and inspire their
success on the field, in the classroom, and in life. Coach Across
America partners with local nonprofits, schools, and sports
organizations to support and train AmeriCorps coaches for a one
year service term to work in underserved communities. Our
AmeriCorps coaches participate in Sports-Based Youth Development
training that emphasize the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) skills
needed to help youth reach their full potential. About Citizens of
the World - Silver Lake The mission of Citizens of the World Silver
Lake is to provide a socioeconomically, culturally, and racially
diverse community of students (TK-5) in Los Angeles. At CWC Silver
Lake, we provide holistic education, filled with joy for students.
All students engage in project-based learning, the arts, sports and
rigorous instruction, that helps our schools rank at the top of all
schools in LA. Our program is particularly strong in developing
students social emotional development across lines of difference,
preparing our students to emerge as a new generation of leaders as
trailblazers who are ready to tackle the future challenges in our
world. Responsibilities: Provide an atmosphere and environment
conducive to students' intellectual, physical, social, and
emotional development. In collaboration with other Student Support
Associates, plan and implement physical activities that engage
students in play. Communicate safety rules for each activity in the
playground, athletic fields, and recess/lunch areas. Maintain an
active line of sight on youth, providing guidance and role modeling
to students, helping resolve conflicts; modeling and enforcing good
sportsmanship. Connect with and motivate youth, fostering inclusion
and teamwork in both individual and group activities. Gain the
respect and trust of the youth served. Engage youth who may not
identify as athletes in sports activities; encourage participants
to gain and develop life skills, knowledge, and techniques through
sport; implement lessons learned through training events. Perform
data collection activities to track Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
skills growth of the participating youth. Light administrative
responsibilities as assigned. AmeriCorps Eligibility &
Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years old. AmeriCorps is open
to U.S. citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent residents. Must
have, or be working towards a High School diploma, GED, or
equivalent. Must have access to reliable transportation. Successful
completion of criminal history background checks. Ability to
perform all job requirements satisfactorily. Other requirements as
required. Coaches must complete the following requirements to
ensure successful completion of the AmeriCorps program: Completion
of the minimum required hours (900) of service and training by the
last day of coach contract. Completion of bi-weekly timesheets.
Attend/participate in Coach Across America orientation, trainings,
meetings, service days, and special initiatives. Must wear Coach
Across America branded t-shirts with AmeriCorps logo when coaching
and at program sessions and events. Service Dates & Hours: Term:
One year from start date, 900 hours over the service period Hours:
M-F 11:30 am -3:30 pm Address: 110 N. Coronado St, Los Angeles, CA
90026 Living Allowance/Stipend: $12,150 total (Paid bi-weekly)
Education Award: $3,697.50 upon completing 900 hours, usable for
education-related expenses. This is a great position for a college
student, recent graduate of high school or college, or retiree
interested in national service. Coach Across America AmeriCorps
